PRIME MOVERS AND MULCHERS

PrimeTech’s parent company, FAE, has enjoyed a rapid evolution in recent years and has developed an extensive range of what it terms forest shredder attachments for machines such as those made by PrimeTech. The company offers 16 different models, all of them designed and developed to meet different requirements like grinding of stumps; mulching of lopping and wooden remains in forest; converting forest lands into agriculture surfaces; in-depth reclamation of forest lands for crop changes; and others, even in the most difficult conditions. FAE mulching heads with

forestry applications may be divided into forestry and universal mulchers, stump cutters and forestry tillers. The forestry mulchers (FM) and universal mulchers (UM) could be applied to tractors ranging from 50-350 hp. When analysing the name of the single models, one may notice

designed with teeth type A and C. These are placed helicoidally around in order to grind and mulch the processed vegetation into very small chips and also to permit the reduction of time and costs of the operations.

The stump cutter heavy models (SCH), namely SCH and SCH/GT can grind stumps of any kind and with different diameter. They can work down to a maximum depth of 600 mm and simultaneously mill

that all of them begin with F or U, which discerns whether the model is equipped with fixed tools (U – type) or with swinging hammers (F type). The FM and UM series include machines that are particularly suitable for the cleaning of brushwood, which favours the growth of trees; the reclamation of land; the maintenance and restoration of banks; the maintenance of the areas under power lines; the maintenance of forestry roads; as well as the creation of fire- blocking lines.

The top model of this class is

without any doubt the UMH/S designed for tractors between 180-350 hp. This mulching head is capable of performing the most difficult operations both at surface (like brushes, branches) and at depth (removing and mulching stumps and roots). The standard equipment of UMH/S includes PTO drive shaft with cam clutch, gear with freewheel, hydraulic rear hood, adjustable skids and a self- ranging system of PTO drive shaft and gearbox. Parts of the machines are produced in Hardox steel. Moreover, the rotor is specially

stumps and roots, thus giving the opportunity to obtain lands ready to be cultivated. For their correct employment, creeper transmission and reversible driving console are recommended. In the class of forestry tiller the

SSH model is considered a market leader. This FAE attachment reaches a maximum working diameter of 700 mm and it is designed for tractors with power between 160-350 hp. SSH is a unique machine that enables milling ‘underground’ – mulching both the ground and the tree stump with roots, leaving a soft soil strip ideal for many types of future cultivation.

“Doing a good job using this machine has never been easier,” FAE said. First of all, the SSH has to be placed with the rotor touching the ground lightly and the tractor will have to move alternately in the forward and reverse gear. After shredding part of the stumps, the machine can get lowered until the requested depth of work is achieved. The number of passages varies depending on the required type of shredding. Normally two passes are sufficient to obtain a very fine shredded product and a good degree of soil homogeneity. Alongside these three top

products, there are another 13 different FAE attachments studied and designed to meet the different clients’ requirements. FAE’s uniqueness appears not only from the quality of the products offered, but also from the accessory services, like the customer assistance, and the warranty policy of two-years on every machine sold.
