create a coloured aura around shadows cast by pedestrians, much to the delight of the youngest generation. Along the road traversing the entire building there is a co- loured plastic wall separating the technical area from the main area. Dispersed behind the wall are vertical luminaries of various heights that represent musical notes flowing through the building and at the same time providing warm light into the space. The lighting of the plaza had to serve pedestrians as well as several events con- nected to Harpa held at the plaza. “We quickly realised that the lighting could not distract attention nor block Harpa, especially for photoshoots,” states Þor- steinsdóttir. “Low bollards could be used for pathways but not for the event lighting. Das Beleuchtungsdesign für das Harpa Konzert- und Konferenzhaus wurde durch Henning Larsen Architects, Batteriid Arkitekter, Zumtobel und ihrem dänischen Vertriebspartner Light Makers entwickelt. Artist Olafur Eliasson entwickelte das in die Fassade integrierte Beleuchtungskonzept für den Außenbereich. Das wech- selnde Tageslicht und die Umgebung verleiht dem Ge- bäude eine endlose Farbenvielfalt. Um diesen Effekt zu steigern, wurde eine spezielle Beleuchtungslösung für die Vorderfassaden entwickelt. Dafür wurden Streifen von sich farblich anpassenden LED-Lampen verwendet, um die Farbe und Intensität jedes Steins individuell zu kontrollieren. Die Eingangshalle wurde zur Stadt hin ausgerichtet, um die Verbindung zwischen Stadt und Konzerthalle zu unterstreichen. Auf diese Art und Weise können Publikum und Besucher des Gebäudes den Blick auf das Meer und die Stadt genießen und

die Menschen in der Stadt erhalten ein faszinierendes kaleidoskopisches Spiel von Schatten und aktive Feststimmung beim Blick auf das Gebäude bei Nacht. Wenn die Türen, die die gesamte Wand zwischen dem Konzertauditorium und den umgebenden Akustik-Kam- mern bedecken, geöffnet sind, erzeugt fluoreszierendes Licht einen Tageslichteffekt, der von den Kammern zu der dunkeln Halle fließt.

Il progetto d’illuminazione per l’Harpa Concert Hall e il Conference Centre è stato sviluppato da Henning Lars- en Architects, Batteriid Arkitekter, Zumtobel e il suo dis- tributore danese Light Makers. L’artista Olafur Eliasson ha invece sviluppato una concezione d’illuminazione per l’esterno, integrata nella facciata. La luce del giorno in continuo cambiamento nonché il paesaggio naturale circostante conferiscono all’edificio una infinita varietà di colori. Per esaltare tale effetto è stata pensata una


soluzione d’illuminazione per le facciate frontali, con l’utilizzo di strisce di luci al LED colorate e regolabili per controllare il colore e l’intensità di ogni singolo mattone. L’atrio è stato orientato in direzione della città per esalt- are il legame tra la città stessa e la Sala dei Concerti. In tal modo il pubblico nonché i visitatori dell’edificio possono godere della vista sul mare e sulla città mentre I cittadini stessi sono allietati da un affascinante gioco caleidoscopico di ombre e di festività nell’osservare l’edificio di notte. Quando vengono aperte le porte che ricoprono l’intero muro presente tra l’auditorium e le stanze acustiche che lo circondano, della luce fluo- rescente andrà a creare un effetto luce del giorno che fluttua dalle stanze verso il corridoio scuro.

El diseño de iluminación para el Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre fue desarrollado por los Arquitectos Henning Larsen, Batteriid Arkitekter, Zumtobel y su dis-


tribuidor dinamarqués Light Makers. El artista Olafur Eliasson desarrolló el concepto de la iluminación exte- rior integrado en la fachada. La luz natural cambiante y los alrededores le otorgan al edificio una variedad de colores sin fin. Para realzar este efecto, se desarrolló una solución de iluminación especial para las facha- das del frente mediante el uso de líneas de luces LED ajustables de colores para controlar el color y la inten- sidad de cada ladrillo individualmente. El vestíbulo ha sido orientado hacia la ciudad para resaltar la conexión entre la ciudad y el hall de conciertos. De esta forma, los espectadores y los visitantes del edificio pueden disfrutar de vistas al mar y a la ciudad; y la gente de la ciudad dispone de un fascinante juego de sombras ca- leidoscópico y la celebración activa al observar el edifi- cio durante la noche. Cuando las puertas, que cubren la pared completa entre el auditorio de conciertos y las cámaras acústicas que lo rodean, estén abiertas, una luz fluorescente creará un efecto de luz natural flotando desde las cámaras hacia el oscuro hall.
