RESTAURANT WEEK 2011 SAN DIEGO Analysts can argue all they want about the economy bouncing back to a manage-


able state. But the fact is, most of us still haven’t seen the cash in our wallets to reflect it. And with inflation pushing prices up all around regardless of whether our income can keep up, our choices keep getting harder. What we could use is an easy decision that lifts our spirits no matter what we choose. Eating out may be a luxury, but it’s one of the few things that we can safely say we’re entitled. This right to dine finely has been given back to us, even during the financial climate


that has seriously tied our hands together and our sewn our mouths shut. Sunday, September 18 through Friday, September 23 warmly welcomes San Diego Restau- rant Week, and with it, more than 180 of the county’s exemplars of forward-thinking cuisine. We are invited to enjoy a three-course prix-fixe dinner for just $20, $30 or $40 per person, depending on the restaurant. Best of all, the event has been expanded to include a two-course lunchtime session for $10, $15 or $20. “Sounds great! So how do we partake,” you ask? Participating is blessedly simple, as there are no passes to buy, cards to punch or coupons to cut—just a phone call that you’d make anyway. Select your restaurant, call to make reservations and then simply show up during the week of September 18 to 23. It is important to be sure to make reservations—during the last event, more than 140,000 participants were counted and even more are expected this month. Now, let’s take a look at a few of the easy choices. We’ve set apart a few participating restaurants from the following categories: LOCAL, VALUE and PREMIUM. Each of these selections are a sure bet, but we’ve selected one standout paradigm from each category that we think you’ll love best.
