INDULGENCES outrageous by daisy torres & jessica d’nalga Because Cityfest was right around the corner we had to jet back to San Diego to enjoy

a stroll down 5th Avenue and to be present for the lighting of the new Hillcrest sign. After a couple of cocktails at Baby Cakes and checking the hot one of a kind selections at Luigi Vera, the weekend was put to rest. Jessica: Cityfest is one of the festivals I look forward to each year. Not only do I get

to enjoy the heart of Hillcrest but I also get to do some shopping! There are so many great vendors. I even bought some cute jewelry that I really needed! I love one of a kind pieces and the live music and beer garden are always fun. We attended another Pride celebration onAugust 20, when we attended South Bay

Pride at Chula Vista’s Memorial Park. It was a great day and every year the celebration gets bigger. It’s always nice to see the folks in the South Bay come out and be proud. Support them and make it part of your yearly celebration. We really enjoyed the Out Night at the Cygnet Theater for the performance of Little

Shop of Horrors. If you haven’t attended an Out at the Cygnet event, keep on the look out for the next one. They feature a great pre-show mixer with food and drinks, at no extra charge. What more can you ask for? Daisy: A man-eating plant…sounds like me! LOL Make sure to go, the show has been

extended till October. To close the month in style, we got all dressed up for the 36th Annual Nicky Awards,

it’s always great to see the community out, looking their best, to celebrate each other. Congratulations to all the winners and to all the nominees. Jessica: Let’s not forget that my fabulous sister was nominated for Best Column and

walked away with theNicky Award for Outstanding Female Impersonator, sharing the award with the fab Glitz Glamour. Well done to all the nominees and the perfor- mances were amazing! Moving on to September, there are a bunch of must attend events. The first event is

all about eating, so grab your stretchy pants and enjoy Taste of Downtown on Thurs- day, September 8. With 50 restaurants to try you will certainly find some new spots to add to your favorite list. Tickets at 619.233.5008 ordowntownsandiego.org. Daisy: I can’t wait, I love trying new places. I am a total foodie. Jessica: I always look forward to Taste of Downtown because everything you get to

try is amazing in its own way. So I will make sure I don’t eat anything all day so I can have room for a little of everything... I need to work out double the day before and the week after! If you love theme parks then you will want to be first in line for Gay Days at Disneyland

Friday, September 30 through Sunday, October 2. A day at the happiest place on earth and a weekend full of parties. There is even a special performance by Frenchie Davis. Tickets areavailable atgaydaysanaheim.com Jessica: This is probably one of the things I’m looking forward to the most. The last

DAISY AND JESSICA’S ADVENTURES September marks the end of summer and the beginning of the new school year,

cause for dismay in children and reason for rejoicing to many parents. For us though, it just means fall is here so its time to go shopping for fall apparel. But before we max out our credit cards, lets recap some of the great events that August had to offer. On August 13 we headed north to be a part of Orange County Pride. We had a blast with all folks who attended this annual celebration of diversity. Daisy: I have to say that O.C. guys fit into three categories: Twinkies, Bears or Ding

Dongs (a chunkier twinky but not quiet a cub), another thing I noticed is that most of the drag queens in Orange County singlive…so vocal lessons here I come! Jessica: Ha, ha, no voice lessons for me, I don’t want to hurt people’s ears. It sure was

nice to see that there is growing activity in the Orange County’s LGBT population and to see the continued growth of O.C. Pride.

time I went to Disneyland was when I was just a little munchkin and trust me much has changed since those golden days. So I’m looking forward to throwing on some jeans, putting my hair in a pony tail and slipping onto some flats so I can enjoy all the wild rides. I hope I get to see Tinkerbell, she’s my favorite fairy of the non-gay variety! Daisy: I can’t wait to head out in my red shirt and mix with all the other “family” having

fun. I should mention that I LOVE Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. By the way, little known fact: Paul Winchell, the voice of Disney’s Tigger, was more than just a pretty voice, he also invented and patented the first artificial heart. Of course, there are plenty of other cool events to check out, so go to our calendar

of events and plan accordingly. Now its time to head out to the mall and get some fall outfits… so many events to find outfits for. Jessica: Hey, lets not forget the biggest highlight of the month! Its my birthday! Yes,

yes, yes... I’m a Virgo. So, keep an eye out for my fundraising birthday bash! I love giving back to the community and what better time to do it than when you’re celebrating with the people you love. So let’s party it up bitches and lets get drunk! .
