HARVESTER HEADS
mechanism. The diameter measuring is carried out by two encoder diameter sensors placed in the robust housing on the upper knives allowing accurate and vibration-free measuring. In addition, if one sensor goes out then the downtime can be minimised by finishing the work shift by using the other sensor. The Logset harvester head is equipped with a purpose built valve manifold hence minimising pressure drops and resulting in high efficiencies. The feed wheel pressure is also controlled by proportional pressure valves. The hose routing follows the curves of the head allowing as much protection as possible. A lot of effort in view of serviceability has been carried out to limit down time regarding routine maintenance and servicing. “The new heads are the complete package of heavy duty solutions incorporating strong hydraulic cylinders, heavy gauge steel plates and pivot bosses, large diameter pins and durable reaction rods,” the supplier said. “Logset’s wide selection of options allows the operator to select the ideal solutions for him and his working conditions. To help obtain maximum results from the processing head we have various feed-wheel spike options, measuring wheel options and a choice of two feed-motor sizes. We can also provide eucalyptus debarking kits, stump treatment and colour marking capabilities.”
Logset also has new solutions for multiple stem handling and the harvesting of energy wood. All Logset Titan heads are capable of multiple stem handling as such but the output can be improved further by fitting a special accessory kit. In addition, Logset’s TOC- MD operating and measuring system has several features which enable fast, automatic harvesting of energy wood. Multiple stem handling can be switched on and off at any point during harvesting and can be activated and operated with a one button option only or, alternatively, with z-lever depending on the operator’s preference. The Logset Titan head range is composed of TH45, TH55, TH65, TH75 and TH75X heads. The number indicates the maximum felling diameter for each head. The range starts with the slim lined TH45 head. This head moves smoothly between trees due to its compact and narrow design. It is suited to first thinning and energy wood. The TH55 is an adaptable head built for second and third thinning but also for smaller clear- cuts. The TH65 is a versatile heavy duty head for larger trees however its compact design makes it suitable for thinning and energy wood as welll. The heavy duty TH75 is the largest head in Logset's Titan Head range allowing heavy clear cutting. The design of the TH75X is also strong enough to sustain track based machine applications. IFI
