maximum cross cutting diameter of 65 cm (25 in), the 75 has a maximum 75 cm (29 in) diameter cross-cutting saw and the 85 has maximum 85 cm (33 in) saw. Also, a simple hardwood debarker model with free-hanging tilt and without saw section exists. The 5-series harvesting heads

The Arbro-Stroke head from Hakmet

The operating philosophy of the Lako Forest company is to produce heads, which will endure harsh conditions of the forest harvesting all over the world. Lako Forest can ensure the highest possible efficiency and low operating costs in any forest operation or cutting/harvesting methods without forgetting the environmental aspects – Lako Forest

delimb and cut trees to length. Easy installation is a feature of the Arbro-Stroke 400, which is meant for thinning operations. Compared to other same size heads, the Arbro-Stroke has a lot of delimbing power and can easily be connected and disconnected on the rotator of the loader. The most common farm tractors have enough hydraulic power to operate a model 400. The harvester has an accurate measuring device as standard and can be programmed for various pre-selected lengths with diameter measuring as an option. The harvester is equipped with a reliable Volvo saw motor. The cutter bar is available in various sizes: either 350 mm (14 in) or 400 mm (16 in) for model 400 and 500 mm (20 in) for model 1000. The

harvester head is easy to operate with an automatic stroke and the tree can be delimbed with a one- button function. The delimbing knives and grip arms can be opened separately.

Lako Forest’s series of harvester heads covers the full range of requirements for mechanical tree harvesting from the first thinning to clear cutting of large trees. In addition, the company has particular expertise in the mechanical harvesting of forest plantations including eucalyptus and acacia debarking. Lako heads are proven debarking heads having been used since the mid- 80s when the first tests were done in Tasmania, Australia.

Based on over 30 years’ experience of harvester/processor heads, the principle idea of the new Lako 5-series harvesting heads is flexibility, which is made by using a modular frame, of which parts can be moved to adapt to different conditions. “All kinds of specifications can be generated by using different combinations of the existing modules and components based on customer needs,” Lako stated. The Lako 5-series consists of Lako 65, 75 and 85 models. The model number shows the size of the saw section, 65 is for

are suitable for 20-35 t tracked or large scale wheeled base machines. The smallest head models (Lako 3-series) can be operated even on 10 t excavators. The 5-series range covers all forest applications from felling to processing timber and hardwood debarking. Lako 5-series has the latest technology eg. Lako 65 model and it is the most efficient harvester head for heavy duty eucalyptus and acacia debarking operations. Special feed rollers for debarking have cutting edges running at an oblique angle, causing a spiral feed of the stem and providing the best quality and speed of debarking. Besides the rotary debarking technology, the head is equipped with specially designed and patent pending knife arms, which will assist the feed rollers to increase the quality and speed of the debarking progress. Moving from hardwood to softwood debarking is easy and possible by changing only the
