HARVESTER HEADS

Lako news Lako Forest has started a relationship with Swiss company HSM Schweiz – a maintenance and marketing company that imports high- quality forest machines to the Swiss market. The main products of the company are skidders and forwarders produced by German HSM Hohenloher Spezial-Maschinenbau. HSM Schweiz now installs Lako harvester heads on HSM products, principally on heavy HSM skidders by transforming them into multifunctional machines. On the steep slopes of the Swiss forests, skidders are the most common forest machines used in logging operations. The co operational aim regarding harvester heads is to unite two well established European brands on the market. “This fruitful joint operation between HSM and Lako was launched in

practice on August 18-20th, at the forest machine fair in Luzern through a Lako harvesting head mounted on a HSM 805 machine,” Lako said. HSM Schweiz will market LAKO harvesting heads in Switzerland and Lichtenstein. Track-based hydraulic excavators and mountain harvesters equipped with tilting upper carriage are the most common base machines used for LAKO harvesting heads. movable tilt pivot point it is possible to use the topping saw module only when it is needed and thus reduce the weight of the head when possible. The movable tilt pivot point also ensures the correct balance of the head at all times or optional grapple jaw extensions for picking up from the ground and sorting the timber in processor or mountain harvesting conditions. The productivity of Lako debarking heads is from 10 t/h up to 30 t/h of solid wood, depending on the size and cutting length of the trees. The tree can

vary in diameter from 500 mm (20 in) down to a minimum top diameter of 50 mm (2 in). Typically, Lako heads in debarking applications are most productive in 15-40 cm butt diameter range. “The operating philosophy of the Lako Forest company is to produce heads, which will endure the harsh conditions of forest harvesting all over the world,” the manufacturer stated. “Lako Forest can ensure the highest possible efficiency and low operating costs in any forest operation or cutting/harvesting methods without forgetting the
