HARVESTER HEADS

standing trees has to be prevented. Fast but still economic feeding and further cutting ensure the productivity of the H6 harvester head. Larger models of the harvester head line are the H7 and H8, both equipped with extremely efficient proportional hydraulic systems. They are mainly focused on regeneration felling and thinning with larger tree sizes. “They offer unbeatable feeding power, cutting speed and measuring accuracy in their size classes,” Ponsse said. The H7 and H8 can also be efficiently used for multi- stemming without additional equipment. In this sense, the multi stemming option does not weaken the performance of the machine on single tree harvesting at all.

After 30 years experience Swedish company Log Max describes the forest industry as “constantly evolving”, saying as a leading manufacturer of single grip harvesting heads, it needed to “be one step ahead of the market”. In an effort to achieve this futuristic approach to its business, Log Max

has added three new heads to its product line that it has developed in anticipation of the markets needs in the evoloving commercial environment. These are the Log Max E6, Log Max 7000XT Fixed Head and the Log Max 6000Twin. All these products are made specifically for use in special markets and operations following in-depth discussions with existing and potential customers.

Log Max E6

The Log Max E6 is specially designed for eucalyptus harvesting. Eucalyptus is one of the fastest growing trees in the world and is found in plantations all over the Southern Hemisphere. “As the eucalyptus industry constantly expands, our customers need a high performance and robust harvesting head that should be able to run at least 18 hour/day,” Log Max Marketing Manager Jesper Löfgren told IFI. “Whilst

working closely on the terrain on which the eucalyptus harvesting industry operates, our engineers have developed the E6 to be the obvious choice for this application.” The Log Max E6 features five debarking knives composed of four compound curve knives and one adjustable upper knife, a cast felling link enables it to operate in the toughest conditions.
