2011 marks another major milestone in Bridgestone’s history as the company celebrates its 80th anniversary. In this issue of Real Answers, we look back at the origins of Bridgestone and chart the company’s progress and changes through the years – including news of an exciting update to our corporate identity. As you know, running and maintaining a fl eet can be an expensive business and retreading
is a prime example of how fl eet operators can extend the life of their tyres. In one of our features this issue, we explore the reasons for retreading so that you know how and when to consider this option. In another feature, we highlight the Super Single
Tyre, which effectively does the work of two dual tyres on a three-axle trailer. For an example of how these tyres benefi t fl eets, we spoke to a company in Tanzania who recently switched to Super Singles. Sidecut repair is another safe and practical way to extend
the life of your fl eet’s tyres. On page 24 we take a step-by-step look at the process.
When it comes to keeping your new tyres in good condition, they could be damaged before they are even fi tted to a vehicle if not stored correctly. From how to stack them to where to keep them, we share the best storage tips to keep your new Bridgestone tyres factory fresh. Another advancement in tyre safety is using Nitrogen instead of compressed air for infl ation. Especially in this region, heat can be problem, but nitrogen-fi lled tyres run cooler and are less prone to defl ation. Find out more with our practical guide. Finally, Real Answers takes a close-up look at one of the most important components of any tyre company – the technician. We spent a day with one of Bridgestone’s highly trained tyre technicians who keeps customers on the road by servicing, repairing and replacing tyres.
