BRIDGESTONE | SIDECUT REPAIR

2. PREPARE THE DAMAGE

Remove the surface rubber at the area of damage close to the casing structure without damaging cords. Limit the damage and take off damaged cords using the right tools. Trim

the cords back into the solid rubber at the edges of the damage. Buff the edge of the repair area into a concave shape to get the best possible surface for good vulcanisation.

3. MEASURE THE FINAL DAMAGE SIZE AND SELECT THE CORRECT PATCH SIZE

If the damage is not a perfect circle, you need to measure two directions: A = axial and R = radial. Write the measured data on the tyre with chalk. Look at the repair chart to find the correct patch related to the size and location of the damage and to the dimensions of the tyre. And don’t forget to measure the depth or thickness of the damage; you may need the data for the calculation of the curing time.
