EMPOWERMENT The Four P’s of by Vanessa Vinos

I regard myself as quite successful. I have made some huge changes in both my personal and professional life, with good results. My friends and clients seem to regard me as quite successful, but the one thing that ir- ritates me, is when friends say “but you are very lucky!” Yes, luck does play a part on some level, but I don’t believe my success is down to luck. I firmly believe it is down to 4 basic elements/keys:

Power Preparation 1

Without preparation nothing can happen. It seems obvious but you would be surprised at the number of people who embark on huge projects or life- changes, and have not done any preparation. It’s ridiculous really. We wouldn’t embark on a new car journey without a map, yet I know of many people who have moved across to the other side of the world with little or no preparation. What happens, is that 6 months later when eveyrthing goes pear-shaped they have to return to first base. I know many ex-pats who moved out to Spain at the same time as I did, and 6 months later were back in the UK moaning that it wasn’t what they expected. It wasn’t what they expected because they just didn’t do their homework. In many cases they took longer to choose a pair of shoes, than they did to move countries! Ten years after first moving to Spain, I am still here. But that came with at least 2 years preparation before leaving the UK; two years preparation and many, many sleepless nights. But it comes with the ter- ritory; with moving out of your comfort zone.
