Dimbola Lodge - at The IW Festival 2011

WITH the summer drawing closer there is a buzz surrounding Dimbola Museum and Galleries, and with the fantastic sun pouring in through its many windows and doors, the staff and volunteers are hard at work preparing Dimbola for not only a busy summer of exhibitions, but also for their annual Isle of Wight Rock Festival appearance! Each year Dimbola’s Festival Marquee gets more and more exciting – And 2011 will be no exception to this. Dimbola’s marquee will be featuring

several exhibitions, from the pioneering photography of Julia Margaret Cameron to a Rock Festival wall showcasing fantastic images and posters from 1968 all the way to the 2011 Festival itself - Tat’s right, you might even spot yourself on the wall. As an added bonus this year Dimbola are hoping to have a fancy dress corner where you can dress up and pose for a photograph to appear on our festival wall, sponsored by Olympus. If you are unable to attend the Isle

of Wight Rock Festival this year then fear not for you can wonder around Dimbola’s Solo Isle of Wight Festival

Recent highlights... Silent Auction & Open Evening.

Dimbola hosted a major fundraising charity event with high quality items from local artists, designers and generous donators. Koo Stark opened the doors to what was a fantastic night. For more information on all events contact kimberley.piggott@dimbola.co.uk

Gallery and travel back in time. A permanent exhibition of the three original IOW Festivals, 1968 to 1970, the last within sight and sound of Dimbola, including original posters, tickets, press cuttings, records and photographs with a panorama of Afton Down which gives an idea of the audience of 600,000 who gathered to watch Jimi Hendrix, Te Doors, and Joni Mitchell. Tere is a Timeline which links these now legendary events to the cultural history of the late C20th. To compliment this there is a display of posters and images of the new IOW Festivals, revived by the leading music agency Solo in 2002, which have featured the likes of Te Rolling Stones and REM.

Dimbola also have a range of smaller

galleries, to ensure that even frequent visitors will also find something new to intrigue them. You can find Dimbola Museum &

Galleries in ‘Charity Row’ at Te IOW Rock Festival on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of June.
