Launched last November, in the depths of one of the coldest winters on record, Made on the Isle of Wight has not

only survived the bleak weather, it has almost doubled in size and now boasts more than 150 local suppliers.

ESTABLISHED as a one-stop shop for all good things that are grown or made on this Island. Made on the Isle of Wight sells everything from Te Tomato Stall’s utterly delicious Golden Santa tomatoes to oil paintings by Anneka Rice who has spent her summers here since she was a child. Te shop – a stunning space, with a nod to the sea in its décor - is rapidly becoming the destination for tourists who are looking for a comprehensive overview of all the best the Island has to offer. It is also increasingly popular with locals in search of an individual and original present. To celebrate the start of the season, the shop’s

owners, Robin and Serena Courage, threw a party for their food suppliers and invited Andrew Turner MP, the Lord Lieutenant Martin White and others to join them. Among the items guests particularly admired were Lindsay Taylor’s extraordinary felt and embroidered chair, lamp and occasional table, Paul Newell’s striking range of sail-cloth wash and kit bags and Dr Bean’s quirky canvas bags, each of which is decorated with a localised ‘shipping forecast’. Te shop’s textile range also includes cushions in a variety of styles including hand-painted, knitted, retro and sail-cloth. Te Courages were also keen to show off the recently completed garden area with its stunning views down to the sea and across the fields to Nettlestone. As the summer takes off this will be open to guests to enjoy Minghella ice-cream and a barbecue of local meats and locally grown salads.

Selling the best of everything made or grown on the Island. From food to textiles, jams to jewellery, puddings to pottery.
