Alfa Laval increase Irish coverage Alfa Laval has announced the appointment of Jerome Maguire as sales engineer for its complete product portfolio in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Jerome is a qualified mechanical engineer with a degree in mechanical engineering from Queens University, Belfast. Prior to joining Alfa Laval he worked for leading companies in the vacuum pump and compressed air fields, most recently as sales manager for Compair. Married with a teenage son, Jerome lives in Ballygowen in Northern Ireland, and outside of work is a keen supporter of his local Rugby and soccer teams and also enjoys the occa- sional round of golf.

Passively maintaining fresh, quiet living in the city
Aqua Vista, in Bowcommon Lane, London by developer Higgins Homes will offer studio starter homes through to three-bedroom apartments, ranging from £169,950 to £330,000. Higgins Homes reports 60% of the apartments were sold off plan within eight weeks of going on the market; part of the reason for the success of the development is the feeling of light and space coupled with quiet- achieved in part through strategic use of acoustic background ventilators from Passivent Ltd. Each of the 157 apartments feature two of Passivent’s Acoustic Energy Saver Vents with Canopy Grilles, colour matched to RAL7037 matt, and integrated into the double glazed window units supplied by Travis Perkins for subcontractor LSC Facades. Humidity sensitive, the vents automat- ically open and close depending on water vapour levels within, removing excess moisture generated by cooking, washing etc, and ensuring an adequate supply of fresh air in line with latest Building Regulations without unnecessary heat loss, and reducing external noise penetration from the road outside into the homes to just 34dB.
