Gradient goes round the bend Gradient Flat Roofing’s position as the UK expert in tapered, single-layer roofing has been highlighted by the company’s role in an impressive new project for Nottingham City Council. Gradient provided a combination of site surveys, technical assistance and a bespoke, curved insulation solution for the unusual new roof of the refur- bished Community Centre building at Robin Hood’s Chase. The result is a new green roof which combines attractive styling with excellent thermal insulation. Having pioneered the use of
single-layer tapered insulation systems for over 25 years, Gradient was able to produce the bespoke insulation boards under controlled factory conditions. Each one was designated for installation on a specific location on the roof, which reduced the time and work required for the installation phase.

Neaco has developed a superb addition to their roof access range with the launch of Paldek 2, a new roof walkway system designed for fast and efficient installation. Paldek 2 walkway panels feature Neaco’s patented swage-locked construction with swage bars, frame and serrated load bars in aluminium alloy. The system’s dual action fixing clamp is secured to the roof seam and walkway with only one fixing, taking 50 per cent less time to install than conventional clamping methods. A specially designed ‘T’ edging strip to the end of longer panels allows users to see clearly defined changes of direction. “When installing Paldek 2 there is no need to fix a seam clamp in first and then clamp the flooring to the seam clip,” explains Neaco’s managing director, Alan Green. “The dual action clamp completes both tasks when the clamp bolt is tightened, thereby saving valuable time and money spent on site. Paldek 2 is very similar in design to Techdek, our original walkway system. When the extreme technical capabili- ties of Techdek are not required, Paldek 2 is an ideal choice because it is very cost-effective.”
