special report: housing

Top notch rainwater system does the trick... When the elderly cast iron guttering on Steve Parson’s house became detached from the fascia boards, he knew that the house needed surgery! He was impressed by the latest Elegance uPVC cast iron look alike system from Polypipe. The Elegance Ogee notched looked just right for the property providing a secure fit and coun- tered the problem of gutters becoming dislodged from their retaining clips making leaky joints a thing of the past. These

benefits, in addition to the lightweight construction of the new guttering system, makes handling, assembly and installation as simple as possible for installers.

Stormdry used on Grade II listed building Stormdry masonry protection cream, from Safeguard Europe, has been used to treat penetrating damp at Denne Park House, a Grade II listed building in West Sussex. Stormdry masonry protection cream and Stormdry Repointing Additive were specified as the preferred waterproofing solution. Due to its unique formulation, Stormdry deeply

penetrates masonry to form a water-repellent yet breathable barrier. This leaves no visible alteration to the natural appearance of the stone or brickwork, which was required for works to this listed building. Stormdry Repointing Additive imparts water-repellency to mortar and improves adhesion between mortar and the brick. The Stormdry treatment is expected to last for at least 20-30 years.
