Sentinel – contributing to energy efficiency You wouldn’t run your car on mucky oil, so why run a heating system on mucky water? Sentinel water treat- ment products are acknowledged as the best you can buy for heating systems. With TripleTech technology providing three different types of chemical technologies to pene- trate and attack system scale and corrosion in X800 and three different heavy duty specialist corrosion inhibitors each targeting a specific metal type in X100, and most major boiler manufacturers recommending Sentinel prod- ucts by name, using Sentinel could make the heating system up to 15 per cent more effective. Saving money, reducing emissions and cutting down on maintenance makes using Sentinel a highly cost effective thing to do.

Green family benefit from east-facing solar panels When Warren Green was looking at ways of reducing his family’s energy bills he thought that his predominantly east-facing roof would prove a barrier to the use of Photovoltaic (PV) panels. Mr Green’s 26-year-old bunga- low in Oakley Green, near Windsor in Berkshire, has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and is home to Warren, his two sons and his mother and father, so keeping fuel bills to a minimum is a priority. Now, with the installation of a 16-panel array from Mitsubishi Electric, the house- hold will benefit from an anticipated 2,000 kWh of power generation a year, helping reduce the home’s consump- tion and earn an income from the Government’s Feed In Tarriff. Warren was keen to use Mitsubishi Electric PV panels to help power the Ecodan® he had installed by World Heat last year.

Henrad vertical radiator range launched Henrad has launched three new ranges of high per- formance decorative radiators to complement its existing wide range of horizontal compact steel panel radiators. These environmentally friendly, extremely efficient Henrad decorative radiators not only look good and give those essential additional design possibilities, but operate brilliantly with either traditional boiler driven heating systems or the new renewable heat systems such as heat pumps and solar thermal systems, keeping your rooms cosy and warm even with lower system operating tempera- tures. “These new ranges of Henrad decorative radi- ators offer architects, designers, installers and home owners a new way to look at providing heat around

the home,” says Henrad’s Product Manager Chris Harvey. enq. 190

Renewable energy pioneers shortlisted The shortlist for the first National Heat Pump Awards 2011 includes pioneering projects that could be the forerunners of a new mainstream approach to harness- ing low carbon renewable energy for the future. Among the finalists are a com- munity hospital in Malvern heated and cooled by ground water, a 13th

Century

Augustian Priory near Weston-super- Mare, which harnesses energy from the

air, a hotel heated and cooled with sea water, and a vineyard in Holmfirth, the setting for the acclaimed television series Last of the Summer Wine, heated by earth energy. Uniting these diverse projects, is the use of modern heat pump technology, which extracts energy contained in air, water or the earth for use in heating and cooling buildings.
