The Brown Cow is a traditional country pub and restaurant, located in the beautiful Ribble Valley. They are open all day - every day. They serve excellent quality; freshly prepared and locally sourced meals, and all of their food is homemade and prepared by their chef, Jamie ‘Jimbo’ Medina. Alongside a varied main menu, they have a daily specials board and their aim is to offer top quality dishes at great value for money. Their bar boasts a choice of real ales, draught lagers and ciders, a varied wine list and an excellent choice of soft drinks and non- alcohol drinks for drivers and kids of all ages. They offer a full range of freshly ground coffee along with nibbles, and their coffee beans are sourced locally from Clitheroe. Jon and Michelle also have a large beer garden to the rear and they are a happy to welcome all four legged friends as long as they are kept on a lead and well behaved. Jack High. The local bowling season got underway on the 2nd April with the Mayors a n n u a l c h a r i t y b o w l i n g competition at Immanuel Bowling Club. 32 local bowlers took part on what was a cold but sunny day. The competition saw some tight games and the standard was high even though it was so early in the season. The eventual winner was Steve Anderton of Oakhill Park Bowling Club who was presented with the trophy by the Mayor. Mr David Waterhouse, Chairman of the Hyndburn & District Bowling League presented the Mayor with a cheque for £200 which had been raised on the day. Another competition was held at Rushton Street Bowling Club in Great Harwood the following week and again we were blessed with warm sunshine. Chris Cornall of Mercer Park Bowling Club was the winner of this one. The League season, sponsored by Greyhound Ford, got underway on the 11th April with all four divisions playing. In Division 1, there were wins for Waddington A, Ribblesdale A, Sabden B & Rushton St E who had a convincing win against the Coppice. In Division 2 Grange A led the way with a win against Rushton St C whilst there was a tight finish in the Division 3 match between Oakhill Ash & Globe C which saw the Globe team taking the win by just one point. In Division 4 Oakhill Park B had a good victory against Grange C.
