Name the Beer for Pendle Pub Walk Competition! PENDLE Pub Walk organisers have this week launched a competition to name a beer being produced especially for the event by sponsors Moorhouse’s Brewery. For the second successive year, Moorhouse’s have teamed up with the increasingly popular local event. Like last year, the Burnley-based brewery will be producing a special beer that will be available on the day in the pubs that mark the ten mile route. So, organisers are asking people to visit the website and whilst registering for the event they are urging you to have a go at naming the beer. The lucky winner will not only be able to see their chosen name on pump clips in pubs on the route of Pendle Pub Walk, they will also win a gallon of beer and four complimentary tickets for a guided tour of Moorhouse’s new brewery facility, as well as full hospitality! Event organiser, Simon Tattersall, said: “Moorhouse’s have been wonderfully supportive of Pendle Pub Walk and their efforts are sure to have a massive impact on our aim to raise as much money as possible for Pendleside Hospice. Last year’s special beer proved immensely popular and we were inundated with entries for the naming competition. The eventual winner was “Witch Way Now?” – so if you think you can do better than that, you could be the winner of a very generous prize.” David Grant, the Managing Director of Moorhouse’s Brewery said: “We were very pleased with last year’s name and it went down very well with walkers and patrons of pubs on the Pendle Pub Walk route. There were some weird and wonderful suggestions last year, so I’m looking forward to seeing what people come up with this time round. Pendle Pub Walk is a fantastic event that is developing into a permanent fixture in the summer social calendar of hundreds of local people.” Anybody interested in either participating in the walk or sponsoring walkers should visit the website set up especially for the walk -
www.pendlepubwalk.co.uk – as you need to register. Organisers say that everyone is welcome on the walk, and are urging people to register now whilst places are still available.
Pendleside Hospice is a registered charity providing an amazing service to adults with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Care is given free of charge to those who need it, but the annual running costs for the hospice are over £3.2 million. 25% is funded by a grant from the local Primary Care Trust, but the huge balance has to be raised from donations from the public and from fundraising funds such as this Pendle Pub Walk. If you live in the Pendle area you will know someone who knows someone, who has experienced the incredible services from Pendleside Hospice. See you on the 18th June.
