COMPANY News New technology supports rapid growth
Centre Signs (UK) Ltd, a leading trade only manufacturer of built-up and flat cut metal letters to the trade, has recently upgraded both its CNC routing and database software systems. The developments are a result of carefully listening to
customers, responding to their needs, and to support the increased demand experienced since the start of the company’s latest venture of the Premier range of stainless steel letters. The company’s Tekcel Router Cutting system and SignLab
software have now been upgraded to accommodate two additional graphics terminals and three new sales database terminals. The improved router cutting software enables production of larger quantities of aluminium letters, acrylic letters and 2mm / 3mm thick brass letters with- out compromising the quality of the product. Indeed, the degree of precision made pos- sible by the new system enables Centre Signs craftsmen to achieve even greater
consistency than before. This, coupled with the routers’ ability to cut Perspex letter faces and templates, means lead times have been further reduced whilst manufac- turing costs are contained, which is reflected in
the competitive prices offered to customers. The service of built-up
Perspex letters has always been particularly successful but with new
methods of manufacture thoroughly tested under the supervision of Mick Tomlinson and Taris Phillips, the Perspex letter makers, the letters are now manufactured to a higher standard than before. The upgraded database network’s software was originally
developed in-house and tailored to fulfil the company’s specific needs and now holds full information on all quotations and job costings from 1993 onwards. Designed to reduce the response time in providing quotations, it is already proving invaluable in tracing past and present job cards. Trevor Cockbill, Managing Director of Centre Signs says:
“These latest investments are in line with the company’s strategy for adopting new technology. We like to keep up with the times, but we always plan any new acquisition and implementation of equipment and systems carefully in response to our customers’ needs. “We pride ourselves on the high quality of our craftsmanship,
and the personal service that we give our customers. This policy has been the driving force that has made Centre Signs the leading trade manufacturer that we are today. We are strictly Trade only, unlike some companies that sit on both sides of the manufacturing fence. Of course we will continue to evaluate and adopt new technology to support our business, but we intend to remain customer-driven rather than technology-driven. “We always listen to our customers requests and try to respond
to their needs and good feedback from signmakers is absolutely necessary if we are to continually improve our service and product range for the sign trade,” adds Trevor. Supporting Centre Signs in its increased business volume is
Production Manager, Paul Smith, who has been with the company for 20 years and is responsible for all work-in-progress, as well as assisting with quotations and technical advice in the sales department. Trevor concludes: “I am extremely pleased with the level of
response to Centre Signs continued advertising campaign in Sign UpDate and the new business this has generated.” For further information telephone Centre Signs on
