SIGN & DIGITAL UK Preview All Formats - QAC A50
Queen Alexandra College, a national charity for the blind and supplier of Braille and tactile signs through its All Formats social enterprise, is on stand A50. The visual stimulation from signage that we encounter is
immense. Imagine for a moment not receiving any of the information, stimulus and assistance that visual signage provides us, imagine the world of the blind or partially sighted. People unable to access signs designed for fully sighted people are literally disabled by society, excluded from participation in the world that we, the sighted, take for granted. Introducing a small number of Braille and tactile signs
throughout a building can make a world of difference, both for your visitors and your reputation; there is no expectation that every single sign designed for sighted folk should be available as a tactile. Braille and tactile signs are cheaper than most people imagine, but take advice from an expert as you probably won’t be able to proof read the Braille dots. Pointers to successful Braille and tactile signs include: tactile
signs need good colour contrast; Braille signs need to be proof read for accuracy and positioned within a prescribed height range; Braille signs should have an indicator built in to locate the Braille; and there are conventions regarding the location of Braille and tactile signs to make them easier to find without sight.

Applelec Sign Components Ltd A20 Established in 1998, ASC is a confidential trade supplier to the signage industry offering innovative solutions through a definitive range of signage, lighting and display components. From the latest LED technology to way finding systems, innovative products are continually integrated into the Applelec range, which includes face and halo LED illuminated letters, built up and flat cut letters, sign tray panels, trough lights, light boxes, display fixings, way finding systems and post signage. Alongside the full product range on stand A20 Applelec will focus on two key new products, ECA compliant LEDs and the Domino Multimax range. This year, Applelec Sign Components can help businesses
generate tax relief through the launch of a new range of LEDs which qualify under the government’s ECA Energy Scheme to manage climate change. ECA compliant LEDs can now be integrated into Applelec’s built-up letters, allowing end users to claim tax relief under the government scheme. This LED range will provide our clients with a product that sets them apart when pitching to end users. Domino Multimax LEDs meanwhile, have already been a huge
hit with customers looking to create fresh, contemporary signs which feature animation. The LED modules come in a range of shapes, with different coloured caps or as RGB colour changing; ensuring dynamic effects can be tailored to each project. The LEDs can be ‘pushed through’ holes on a sign tray or a letter face to create stunning effects and can be supplied either in kit form, or within a finished sign.
