Contemporary system gives stunning visual effect to the Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatre
The Royal Shakespeare Company reopened the Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatre this autumn, on time and on budget, following a four year redevelopment project which included a brand new 1,000 seat thrust stage auditorium, riverside café and terrace. The re-opening includes tours, exhibitions and activities unfolding over a four month period, culminating in the RSC 50th birthday celebrations this year.
The Vitrum product from onthecase was specified for the
external display cases and 11 3000mm high x 900mm wide cases were strategically placed around the building, all double sided with backlit LED illumination on one side only. Side hinged, lockable toughened glass doors with ceramic borders open up to allow graphic images to be easily updated. The poster holder allows the graphic image to sit directly behind the glass and on the LED sheet, giving a stunning visual effect. Vitrum was specified as it answered all the requirements
demanded from the architect and client. The system is contemporary in look and innovation and offers the flexibility required to change and update the graphic images on a regular basis. As a system, rather than a bespoke manufacture, it was also competitively priced and proven. Strict planning requirements also required the cases to be lit
