ONE MINUTE MOORE RANDALL MOORE No wonder kids are fat Guy is walking his three dogs behind his

home near Smiths Falls when one of them takes off. He finds it a short time later. Not pretty. The steel jaws of an animal trap are clenched around the dog’s neck. The man is livid, livid that no warning signs had been posted. He’s not alone. Since October at least three other dogs have

been killed by animal traps in this neck of the woods. It’s devastating for the families involved and I feel for them, I really do. But there’s a reason why it’s called private property. It means you and your dogs have no business being there. Simple as that.

• What’s it take to get fired from the

government? A man working for the Canada Border Services Agency was spending as much as five hours a day searching pornograhic personal ads on his office computer AND sending naked photos of himself from his work e-mail. A total of 170 hours is how much time this guy spent on the Internet over a three-month period - sendng and receiving all kids of smut - including, as mentioned, naked photos of himself. So one assumes the dude gets fired, right? Think again. Gets to keep his job. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Makes you wonder how many others are out there wasting taxpayers’ money , and why this man’s boss didn’t notice that he wasn’t exactly getting his job done. Makes you wonder why it took a complaint from a private individual to start the investigation.

• Hear about the cop killer doing time in One of my fondest memories growing up in

Prescott was playing outdoor hockey on what we called the cow pond. Every day after school, didn’t matter how cold, we’d grab our sticks and skates and trudge through the snow to our own little slice of Heaven. I went back to the cow pond last year and, while the ice was still there, the place was deserted but for an old net an a few broken sticks. I was saddened but not surprised. Kids today are either incredibly lazy or

addicted to whatever the latest electronic gadget might be. No wonder there’s an obesity epidemic in this country! Kids are too busy texting. It’s why our city rinks sit empty most days. It’s why the cow pond in Prescott sits deserted. Today’s youth don’t know what they’re missing, they really don’t. And sadly, I sometimes get the impression

Kingston who was awarded $9,500 by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal? Peter Michael Collins filed a human rights complaint against Corrections Canada, saying guards made him stand up for the daily head count even though they knew he had a bad back. Yes, Collins DOES have a bad back but he IS able to walk and stand. So instead of telling this cop killer to suck it up, they award him 95 hundred bucks in compensation! Okay. I take you back to October 14th, 1983. Nepean police constable David Utman was having coffee at the Bayshore Shopping Centre. Peter Michael Collins, the guy with the bad back, approaches and orders Officer Utman to stand. Two shots were fired, one hitting Utman in the chest. He died a short while later in hospital. Constable David Utman was 38 at the time. Married with two children. His killer, Peter Michael Collins, has a bad back. And wins $9,500 in a human rights case.
