CAR CLUBS GIUSEPPE CASTRUCCI

One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer and don’t forget One

It’s 1953 and the American Dream is

starting to take flight. The Drifters’ Money Honey is playing on the Pop station. Hank Williams is #1 with Your Cheatin’ Heart, Big Mama Thorton rules the Blues with Hound Dog, and Amos Milburn is rockin’ the waves with One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer. You’re surrounded by the music that

defines the Post War generation. Little do you know that Harley Earl

and General Motors are about to unveil what is to become an American icon at the GM Motorama Show . Welcome Corvette! The mere mention of it strikes a

memory in all car lovers’ hearts. We each picture the model and colour that we loved

the most: Candy Apple Red, Powder Blue, or Flaming Orange. It was originally built in Flint, Michigan

and St. Louis, Missouri. Production was later moved to Kentucky where, you might be interested to know, the Corvette is the official sports car. The Corvette has been selected a

record 10 times as the official Pace Car of the Indy 500. The list of awards and recognition are endless. No surprise they have a car club right here in Ottawa. The Capital Corvette Club was

established in 1975, and it has flourished. I was invited by a member of the club

to visit his home and talk about the club and what it has to offer Corvette owners and fans.
