Bronze medal position with all other riders going clean.
Lamaze rides Abdullah’s Seldana Di Campalto first in the final round, adding another four faults to his score now totaling nine and potentially out of the medals. With
Abdullah clean in his final round on HH Rebo- zo and a final score of eight faults one less than Eric, Canada’s hope for a medal is in dan- ger. Rodrigo Pessoa the second last to go in the fourth round on Vigo D’Arsouilles takes down two jumps giving him a total of 12 faults and out of medal contention raising Eric to third, the time fault separating him and Abdul-
lah from the silver medal position. Philipe Le Jeune, fortunate to have Hickstead in the final round rides his fourth clean round to victory and the individual gold medal also giving Hickstead the title of best horse with four clean rounds as well.
Team gold was awarded to Germany, Sil- ver to France with the Bronze team medal going to Philipe Le Juene’s team Belgium. Team Canada consisting of John Pearce (Chi- anto), who qualified for the individual finals,
Yann Candele (Pitareusa), Jonathan Millar (Contino) and Eric Lamze on Hickstead fin- ished fifth in the team competition with Eric as Canadian top rider.
When asked if Hickstead will be going to the Olympics, in London, England in two years Eric replies “ Most likely not as he will be sixteen by then”.
