SEPTEMBER 2010 THE RIDER /43 The Third Annual Spectacular Standardbred Showcase

Burlington, Ontario - Another successful one in the books for the Standardbred Showcase Horse Show. Over 30 horse and rider combinations ventured to Grand River Raceway on Sunday August 1 to compete in 21 classes of various equine disciplines.

Tanya Martin of Elmira riding Born to Score reigned victorious as the High Point Horse/Rider of the day. With plac- ings in English, driving, costume and western classes secured her the top spot sponsored by Bahrs Saddlery. Born to Score an 19year old gelding showed just how versatile the Standardbred is. Reserve High Point was Alea Woods on Party Gal from Ancaster Best turned out went to Ambition Express and Aislin Rees, Greatest Dis- tance traveled to Courtney Zieba, Most Sportsmanlike to Admirals Express and Wellington Charles. For complete results and pictures, please check out www.stan- dardbredshowcase.com.

All who attended had a great day. Special thanks to Grand River Raceway who allowed us to hold the show on Industry Day weekend. This was the sec- ond show in the Ontario Standardbred Show Series. The series this year com-

joined us in the riding ring at this show and gave the shoes right off his feet at the end of the show! Not many horses could beat him on the track, but many had their chance in the ring.

This show was brought to you by the Standardbred Showcase, a not for profit organization whose sole pur- pose is to promote the Stan- dardbred as a viable riding and pleasure driving horse! They arent just race horses any- more. After all, it is all about the Horses!
