All proceeds will be donated to the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society!
LongRun currently has over 40 retired thor- oughbred horses under our care.
Cocktails will begin at 5:30 pm with a spectacu- lar dinner buffet commenc- ing at 6:00pm.
The event will feature a delicious bbq dinner, live entertainment, DJ, live and silent auctions, cash bar, 50/50 draw and much more; all for the wonderful cause of providing our thoroughbred racehorses with the retirement they truly deserve after their racing days are over.
A special appearance by a Shania Twain tribute artist, courtesy of Holly- wood Heaven, will be sure to bring everyone to their feet and keep them dancing

We believe that our brave and beautiful thor- oughbred racehorses deserve a dignified retire- ment. Our aim is to offer an alternative to owners and trainers - rather than have horses continue to race that are no longer able to compete, LongRun tries to help by fostering, reha- bilitating and finding these racehorses permanent adoptive homes and alter- native careers as pleasure horses or companion ani- mals.

Lindsay Agricultural Society Receives Boost with Grant
Lindsay – Haliburton- Kawartha Lakes- Brock MPP Rick Johnson visited the Lindsay Agricultural Society fairgrounds to officially congratulate the group on news of its $16,100 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). MPP Johnson was joined by OTF repre- sentative Janice Sanderson as they pre- sented members of the Lindsay Agricultural Society with a plaque from the Foundation.

Truck and Horse Trailer Overturn in Ditch
Fire fighters and police were called to the site after a driver to lost control of his pickup truck while pulling a horse trailer and 4 horses. The vehicle rolled into the ditch and overturned when their tire blew-out at about 7 pm on the evening of Wed Sept. 1st. The driver and passenger were a 55-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman. Both are from Alberta and were treated for minor injuries in hospital. The incident occurred on the trans-Canada Hwy near Hwy 207, east of Winnipeg while on their way from Alberta to Quebec. Fortunately, all four horses survived. One had escaped but was found nearby while the others were rescued from the trailer by emergency personnel. Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors at this time, RCMP said, and police are still investigating. For more information read:

The OTF funding will support the installa- tion of portable box stalls in the horse barn at the Lindsay Fair- grounds. The stalls will better accommodate horses during shows and to create opportunities for more horse shows at the popular Fairgrounds. “New Stalls give us more flexibility in attracting different horse shows to the fair- grounds, as we continue to grow this facility and attract events and peo-
