12/ SEPTEMBER 2010 THE RIDER The First Annual Horse Wish Gala
The inaugural Amber Marshall Horse Wish Gala was held Sunday August 29 at the Wilson H2 Ranch in Woodville, Ontario.
Horse Wish is a newly formed, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a ‘Horse Life Experience’ to those who otherwise who would not have the opportunity. Catering to adults and children, the group plans to partner with local organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs, Women’s Resources, Veteran’s Affairs and the YMCA to identify people who could benefit this
kind of pastime.
An integral part of Horse Wish is their spokesperson Amber Marshall who plays Amy on the hit TV series Heartland. She generously donated a rare day off to actively take part in the fund raising Gala. Amber proved she could rope and ride with the best of them spending much of the day on in the saddle– flying the Canadian flag during the opening ceremonies, taking part in a cutting demonstration and even answering audi- ence questions from horseback.
The Gala featured various ranch and riding exhibitions, a small animal petting corral, a silent auction, vendors, demonstrations and entertain- ment by the Wolfgang Brothers. Among those appearing were Wilson H2 Ranch’s ‘Boss Bucka- roo’ and Horse Wish Vice President Benjamin Guy, Annie Lalande and her Andalusian, expert equine trainer Jim Young, and animal communi- cator Lauren Bode.
It was a fun-filled, informative day for equine and Amber Marshall fans alike.
