When the honeymoon's over ! A young couple got married and left on their honeymoon. When they got back, the bride immediately called her mother. Her mother asked, "How was the honeymoon?"

"Oh, Mum," she replied, "the honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic..." Suddenly she burst out crying. "But, Mum, as soon as we returned Sam started using the most horrible language...things I'd never heard before! I mean, all these awful 4-letter words! You've got to come and get me and take me home.... Please Mum!" "Sarah," her mother said, "calm down! Tell me, what could be so awful? What 4-letter words?" "Please don't make me tell you, Mum," wept the daughter, "I'm so embarrassed, they're just too awful! Come get me, please!" "Darling, you must tell me what has you so upset. Tell your mother these horrible 4-letter words!" Still sobbing, the bride said, "Oh, Mum, they were words like dust, wash, iron, cook!"

And talking of Honeymoons 24th January 1972 : Japanese Soldier Found Hiding on Guam Local farmers discover Shoichi Yokoi, a Japanese sergeant who, unaware that World War II was over, had been hiding in the jungles of Guam for 28 years . . . Guam, a U.S. possession in the western Pacific, was attacked and captured by the Japanese in 1941. Three years later, Amer- ican forces retook the island. It was at this time that Yokoi, left behind by the retreating Japanese, went into hiding rather than surrender to the enemy. He handcrafted survival tools and wait- ed for his countrymen to return and hand him his next orders. After his discovery in 1972, he was discharged and sent home to Japan, where he was hailed as a national hero. He subsequently married and returned to Guam for his honeymoon.

A Busy Christmas and New Year Football Program. Spare a thought for those poor football people when you were tucking into your turkey. They couldn’t enjoy Christmas the same as us because they had a game on Boxing Day, so they had to stay off the Xmas pudding, mince pies & mulled wine. They would be tucked up in bed while we were partying the night away because they had a training session in the morning. It must be hard for them to live such a disciplined lifestyle and stay motivated, just put yourself in their shoes/boots. You have to go out in the rain and train for a couple of hours each morning, you do get the afternoons off though. Then at weekends when you should be doing the big weekly shop, and cleaning the house and the car, you have to play football for 90 minutes with no extra dosh if you have to play overtime. Then at the end of the week they put £80,000 in your bank. Next week you have to do it all over again and they give you another £80,000, and the week after, and the week after that. That’s £320,000 for the month. I could probably manage it for 6 months, that’s £1,920,000. After that if I looked out of the window in a morning and it’s coming down “stair rods” sod it I’m off back to bed. But what a great time to look back at some football quotes over the years. "If you don't believe you can win, there is no point in getting out of bed at the end of the day." Neville Southall “My parents have always been there for me, ever since I was about 7. " David Beckham "I faxed a transfer request to the club at the beginning of the week, but let me state that I don't want to leave Leicester " Stan Collymore "I've never wanted to leave. I'm here for the rest of my life, and hopefully after that as well." Alan Shearer "I would not be bothered if we lost every game as long as we won the league." Mark Viduka "Alex Ferguson is the best manager I've ever had at this level. Well, he's the only manager I've actually had at this level. But he's the best manager I've ever had." David Beckham "I've had 14 bookings this season - 8 of which were my fault, but 7 of which were disputable." Paul Gascoigne "I'd like to play for an Italian club, like Barcelona " Mark Draper "You've got to believe that you're going to win, and I believe we'll win the World Cup until the final whistle blows and we're knocked out." Peter Shilton "I was watching the Blackburn game on TV on Sunday when it flashed on the screen that George (Ndah) had scored in the first minute at Birmingham . My first reaction was to ring him up. Then I remembered he was out there playing." Ade Akinbiyi "Without being too harsh on David Beckham, he cost us the match." Ian Wright " Leeds is a great club and it's been my home for years, even though I live in Middlesborough." Jonathan Woodgate "I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel." Stuart Pearce "I took a whack on my left ankle, but something told me it was my right." Lee Hendrie "I couldn't settle in Italy - it was like living in a foreign country." Ian Rush " Germany are a very difficult team to play...they had 11 internationals out there today." Steve Lomas "I always used to put my right boot on first, and then obviously my right sock." Barry Venison "I definitely want Brooklyn to be christened, but I don't know into what religion yet." David Beckham "The Brazilians were South American, and the Ukrainians will be more European." Phil Neville "All that remains is for a few dots and commas to be crossed." Mitchell Thomas "One accusation you can't throw at me is that I've always done my best." Alan Shearer "I'd rather play in front of a full house than an empty crowd." Johnny Giles "Sometimes in football you have to score goals." Thierry Henry
