studio writer, so I’d rather stay in the studio. That’s one thing about Baby and Little Wayne, they love to be in the studio, they love working, so, that probably for me, is the best thing that came out of it, was the opportunity to work with Manney Fresh, he showed me a lot about production and keeping the fun at an ultimate high when your in the studio. There was just a lot of opportunities to write songs when your with Cash Money, so I just took full advantage of it.
Kix: How have you found making “Uh Oh” compared to your past records? TQ: It’s been a lot different, because of the fact that it is a pop/dance record featur- ing me. I haven’t really done a lot of that as an artist, I’ve done it a lot as a producer in the past, producing pop artists like, Nsync, Another Level, Sara Conor, people like that. I just feel that I am at the point now where, I have done so much music in the past, it’s just an open book now, so I do what I feel, I just want to spread my wings a little bit, and try to go off into a different
genre. I just completed a reggae single with Gyptian, which is going to be his single, so stay tuned.
Kix: How did you find the transition from music to acting, was it always something you wanted to do? TQ: It wasn’t necessarily something that I always wanted to do, I think it was something that I did naturally. When I was at school, I always used to be involved in the plays and the same for church. At the time when I was making movies, I only focused on that, I started taking acting classes and putting the hard work into my craft. I’ll eventually go back, but I think it’ll be when my next break from music is.
Kix: Any advice for the youth! TQ: The youth just need to recognize, that everything isn’t fact. Some stuff is fiction and some stuff is just entertainment. Pick the right things to model yourself after. Don’t just go off doing the things you see or the things you hear about, just because you thought they were cool. They need to investigate things more.
Kix: How do you get your Kix? TQ: I like Amercian football, and the other types of football, but for the most part, I love sports. If I wasn’t doing something in music, I would of wanted to be doing something in sports. Outside of that I would be writing. I pick up my phone or pick up a pad and just write. It’s always seemed to come naturally to me. That’s pretty much it to tell you the truth. Sports and writing.
“Pick the right things to model yourself after.”
Kix: Please tell people how they can get in contact with you facebook, myspace, twitter, website, blog etc) TQ: @TQTHETROJAN all one word. That’s my twitter, and my facebook, or you can even just Google TQ. I got a website actually that was started by my fans, like 8 or 9 years ago, that’s called Thug Poetry, That’s
www.thugpoetry.com. A lot of people may hear a lot of my latter records and not know about the earlier ones, but that’s the place where you can go and find out about them.
They can also go to Reverb Nation where I drop a lot of exclusive tracks and collabs with other artists.
Kix: Pleasure having you and look forward to catching up with you again. Any last words TQ: I just want to thank my fans in the UK. Alot of people don’t know that “Westside“ dropped here first before it did in the US. I have alot of loyal fans here in the UK and they can look forward to more TQ coming soon.
