P Money: I can do Rap, I can do any genre there is, I can do, but that’s not my thing, I done it as a favour. There’s a group of people from my area that were putting together a CD and they asked me if I could do a tune, I did the track, but I did just one freestyle. But I would never do a proper tune and put it out as a release or anything like that. That would never be me. In terms of releases, it will always be Grime lyrics over a Grime beat or a Dubstep beat. If you listen to the type of Dubstep tunes I’ve vocalled, you can play them on a Grime set. I’ve gone to many Grime raves and I’ve heard those tunes played at the Grime rave, those are the type of Dubstep tunes I go for. So it’s not just Dubstep, some people even say to me that we need a new name for the type of music I do, it’s not just Dubstep, it’s not just Grime, it’s like a mixture of both.
Kix: You have said in the past that if an MC isn’t improving, they should stop what they’re doing right now. Do you think you’re improving? And why have you changed from the skippy, aggressive flow of 2007 to a slow, singalong flow in
2010?
P Money: I don’t see myself as I’ve change really, apart from I’ve slowed it down a bit. But I’ve only slowed down a bit because I was doing that fast flow for several years; certain people are only starting to do it now. It’s old to me. I think you change not only to get better, but you change because you want to change. If I wanted to, I could do a mixture of flows. To me it’s not really even chang- ing, it’s just like “ahh I like doing this flow now”. It depends on the beat. The other day I got a beat from Royal-T, it’s a hype, fast beat which will go on mine and Blacks’ CD. Over that beat I do the skippy flow because I can do it. The producers have also changed, Grime has changed. If you listen to certain Garage tunes then Grime tunes from 2007 to now, the beats have changed. You wouldn’t really skip on them because that’ll dead the drum patterns, a lot of it’s changed, and I’ve just changed with the music, that’s all. Ho! Riddim isn’t really a singalong thing, the chorus is singalong, but that’s standard anyway. Who wouldn’t have a chorus where people can’t singalong? It wouldn’t make
sense. But the verses, there’s not very singalong, they’re very technical. They’ve got metaphors, they’ve got punch lines, and they’re very techni- cal. I’ve never classed myself as a singalong MC.
Kix: You’ve mentioned yours and Blacks’ CD a few times, when are we going to see that? You’ve mentioned OG Season and that’ll be just fully OGz time, are you going to release it during the OG Season or will it be released afterwards? P Money: It’ll be released before OG Season, so that’ll be in December. We’re looking to
get out Blacks & P by December, it’s got two videos being shot in the next two weeks, and they’ll be out throughout
the CD comes in December.
Kix: Are we going to see any- more singles in the near future? Or is it just all OG Season from now on? P Money: Yeah there will be singles, one or two singles, but mainly right now I’m just concentrating on mine and Blacks’ CD, then OG Season. But, there will be singles…
