28. Will you retire to masters men, or co-ed?. . . . Or is the ladder co-ed, then masters? I can see myself playing masters if all of my brothers were playing. I don’t see myself playing co-ed again, at least any time soon. In all honesty, I would like to play open until I retire from competitive Ultimate. 29. How much does training play into your game? Do you just practice with the team, or do you train outside
seen play Ultimate since he was about seventeen. His skills have become extraordinary. He’s looked to as one of the leaders on the field – someone who leads by example, letting his game do most of the talking, and always making the big plays. Most recently he’s used his on-field presence as well as his off-field skills to captain Carleton University’s Ravens to become CUUC champs. John Hassell would definitely be the most impressive veteran player. He is one of the toughest matchups I have ever come across – capable of beating you in any aspect of the game, whether it’s handling, cutting, or jumping over you. He’s pretty unstoppable. He also has one of the most respectful and humble attitudes I know.
27. Which female player really impresses you with her game, and why? I would say Ali Lemay (now Flynn) because of her knowledge of the game, as well as being one of the best female throwers I have ever seen, and also having patience in critical situations. A second one would be Anne Mercier because of her many successes on so many levels – she became such a mature player at such as young age, and is very modest about her talent.

of the Ultimate team practices? Haha. I’d like to lie and say I train a lot, but everyone on the team knows that I don’t. Honestly, I’ve never really trained outside of practice and now that I’m getting older though I’m starting to realise that my body can’t take the abuse it used to. As per my goals on pushing myself harder, I’m trying to take more initiative to train in the off-season and outside of practices once the season comes around.
30. What about nutrition? Eating what you want, or eating responsibly? Again, something that I’m not really good at is maintaining my nutrition. I usually tend to eat what I want, when I have time to eat. I’m starting to remedy this, for example by drinking water as opposed to pop, but I still have a long way to go.
31. What really irks you about the sport? (Ie. no refs, or cheating calls?)

When playing at a competitive level, it can be frustrating to have to explain how “Ultimate really is a sport” to those who associate it with less competitive connotations.
32. What do you love the most about the sport? Unlike other sports, to play at the highest level you have to be good at all aspects of the sport. Offense, defense, throwing, running. You have to be successful at everything because the nature of the game demands it – you can’t exactly get subbed off when the disc is turned over because you aren’t good at defense. Also, because Ultimate isn’t a really renowned sport, you can be playing in a league game, or learning at a clinic with someone who has been to (or even won) a World Championship, without even knowing you are learning from, or playing with, one of the best.
