NOVEMBER 2008

nother day at Ravensbourne Special School -Rotarians Brian, Dave and Geoff are part of a team of volunteers

redecorating and refurbishing Ravensbourne School, a spe- cial school catering for children from the age of 2 to 19 who come from all over the London Borough of Havering plus a few pupils from Barking and Dagenham. Each of the 90 pu- pils has severe learning difficulties and many also have pro- found multiple physical and medical problems.

he school caters for children between the ages of 2 and 19 with severe

learning difficulties. This is not the first time The Rotary Club of Hornchurch & Upminster has assisted the school

ou may recall that, ear- lier in the year, our club

donated £500 to Ravens- bourne School. This followed

a visit to the school by Brian Taffs, Geoff Furzland and George Larkey. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the Early Years classrooms to witness the poor condition of the area and especially the toilets which were in a dreadful state. It is nice to know that

your money has been well spent in contributing to the re-modelling of the toilets which together with the painting of the classrooms has made a big difference to the quality of life and teaching for both children and teachers. I believe the team of volunteers did an excellent job, ―but where are there rotary badges‖ shocking Dress code ha ha
