star awards Sunil Pravanak: Host STAR AWARDS!
When I first heard of Star Awards I was very excited and I just had to enter for dancing. I knew this would be very big like the name, I thought I had very little hope of winning, but I still went for it!

My friends had been encouraging me a lot because I was actually very nervous. While I was sitting there in the audience at Star Awards my legs were shaking the whole time. When my name came up as a nominee I had my fingers crossed and my friend Malini Navinchandra was more excited than me when they were about to announce the winner of dance. She was literally holding me very tightly which made me even more nervous but the tension had all gone when my name was announced as the winner. It meant so much for me that my mind was flying. When I heard the audience ‘whoo’ while I was performing it made me very confident and I enjoyed performing .

On Tuesday 11th May I interviewed a series of presenters: Niraj Chad, Jasmine Chohan and Dougal Irvine. Dougal; an actor and writer said that our work is fantastic and “the students all have potential to be great.” He likes the school’s vision and drive to teach skills for the future and would like to come back next year as a presenter. Jasmine was honoured to represent the award for best writing and to come back to her old school. She thinks it’s a good idea for students to build up confidence. ‘To be a writer you have to be focused, disciplined and you have to believe in yourself.’ Niraj; presenter of best music has worked with us on the Passions Curriculum before. The students’ work was outstanding and he was pleased to be a part of it. ‘To be in the music industry you need to stay focused, committed and to do it for the love of it and not for the fame.’
