My fIrsT yeAr AT VIllIers
Hi, my name is Arpna Arora and my first year at Vil- liers flew by so quick that I never realized that I had done so many wonderful things. There was a huge amount of things that I had done from the beginning till the end. I loved the chance that we got to have 6 lessons of each language as a taster which helped quite a lot to decide. The taster lessons led to a bril- liant language show where everyone performed and enjoyed themselves. The opportunity to show off our talent at Villiers went very well at the talent competition and I was amaz- ingly surprised when the crown of the best talent was placed on my head. The progress in my education is very good because I’m progressing in most of my subjects thanks to all our lovely teachers at Villiers. By Arpna Arora
I still can’t believe I am coming to the end of Year 7! I remember being in Year 4 at Blair Peach when I came to Villiers to take part in the ‘dot’ project; a collabora- tion between my primary school, Villiers and the world famous Royal College of Art to design our dream play- ground! It was such fun to play games for a real pur- pose, and help the designers get their plans just right. Breaking News is completely different; harder and working to deadlines. The person in charge took this so seriously too! She sure kept us on our toes! Those who did the ‘dot’ project should remember that study isn’t always games; the Breaking News and BBC projects are much harder, but still so much fun! You get to visit the BBC studios too. I really hope when I do the real BBC School Report next year that I, as well as oth- ers in Year 8 will do an excellent job!!!
Ramandeep Jassal - Year 7 My first year at Villiers
I was really scared and nervous when I first started at Villiers High because I didn’t have any friends go- ing there from my primary school, which meant I had to make new ones. I thought it would be hard but in fact it wasn’t, and within the first week I’d made lots of friends and classmates. I also felt quite lost at first; trying to find my way around the school com- fortably, as it seemed so big. I’ve had many different experiences this past year including the VSV (Villiers Student Voice), the Star Awards and International Week which raised funds for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake while we learned about lots of different countries. Mr Street did a great training session on how to be a Lesson Observer and a Student Learning Advisor as part of the VSV. Year 9 and 10’s came to this session too to help us, which was really useful.
This first year at high school; I can say that I’m really happy here. Kirti – Year 7.
