ABU Engineering Industry Excellence Award
The ABU Engineering Industry Excellence Award for 2008 was awarded to Ahn Dongsu, Vice President of the Ubiquitous Media Contents Alliance and President of the Future Broadcasting Research Group. Dr Ahn is formerly from KBS-Korea and was a past Vice- Chairman of the ABU Technical Committee.

The Best Article prize for 2008 was awarded to Dr Eng Akio Ando, Head of Acoustics and Audio Engineering Group of NHK Science & Technical Research Laboratories, Japan for the article titled Advanced Multi- channel Sound System for Future Broadcasting.

Sony Electronics Asia Pacific is continuing its sponsorship of the ABU Broadcasting Engineering Excellence Award for 2009 and 2010.
The ABU Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award for 2009 was awarded to Takao Shimizu, Executive Researcher, Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc, Japan who benefitted from a study tour to the Sony Headquarters, a local TV station and SMPTE in Hong Kong, a visit to CineAsia2008 in Macau and Sony facilities in Tokyo.

The first Commended Article prize for 2008 awarded to Mohammad Alipour of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting for the article entitled Virtual Studio System and Tracking Mechanism.
The second Commended Article was authored by Updesh Singh, Manager, Systems Integration, Strategy & Systems of Astro- Malaysia entitled Astro Media Management System.
