Extending A Helping Hand ABU TAS Missions carried out in 2008-2009 Technical Advisory Service
Five Technical Advisory missions were successfully completed in MBC-Mauritius, KRT-DPR Korea (two), LNR-Laos and BB-Bangladesh. Missions for NTV- Nepal, BBS-Bhutan, MNB-Mongolia, BPA-Kiribati, PTV-Pakistan and SMO-Afghanistan are under process.
• MBC-Mauritius, Nov-Dec 2008 Upgrading skills of MBC staff in digital broadcasting technologies. Expert from New Zealand.

• KRT-DPR Korea, Dec 2008 Developing staff skills in HDTV 5.1 surround sound production, broadcasting and encoding techniques, stereo phase-cancellation and other related areas. RTPRC-China provided the expert.
• KRT, Mar-April 2009 Enhancing staff skills in basics of HDTV Programme production facilities and international standards. TVB-Hong Kong provided the expert.
• BB-Bangladesh, June 2009 Developing a radio archive system, asset
Questions and answer session management techniques and training on Internet audio broadcasting. IRIB provided the expert.
• LNR-Laos, July 2009 Audio restoration of tape archives, designing software and hardware solutions for digital archiving and asset management. PBC-Pakistan provided the mission expert.
We highly appreciate the good work carried out by the mission experts and the cooperation extended by their organisations.
Online Training System, April, Kuala Lumpur
As a new initiative, a two day training course was organised on web-based online training system. The training was focussed on web learning methods, creating and administration of web learning courses. The Technical Department has set up a new web platform facility for on-line training in all disciplines of broadcasting.
