International Profiling Support to International Conferences
BES Conference, February, New Delhi Assistance was provided to the BES in conference programme development, providing speakers, conference promotion and presentations.
Five fellowships were secured from the BES for our members in neighbouring countries.
Cabsat 2009, March, Dubai Assistance was provided in conference programme preparation, finding speakers, conference promotion, making presentations and conducting the conference. An ABU booth was set up at the associated exhibition to promote the Union in the Middle East and secure new members.
BroadcastAsia 2009, Singapore For the 2009 edition in June, in addition to assistance in the conference programme, selecting the speakers, the TD advised the organisers on several aspects of conducting the conference, including a high profile opening session. In return BroadcastAsia has provided six fellowships for our members to travel to Singapore and participate in the conference and exhibition.
IBC, Amsterdam IBC has again provided funding to support and this allowed us to send two ABU member representatives to experience this broadcasting event in September.
The ABU has provided promotion support to the IBC event.
International Telecommunications Union (ITU) The TD continues to have a very close working relationship with the ITU, in particular in ITU-R activities and with Development Bureau (BDT) of ITU-D. The ABU contributed an important document to ITU-R on 18 kHz IF bandwidth for digital radio receivers, for studies on full channel digital stereo audio transmissions, single channel simulcast. It ws deemed to be an important area of studies to be pursued.
WTDC-10 The ABU has contributed a spate of proposals to the Asia Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting in May. This meeting will prepare proposals for the output programme of WTDC-10.
