THE WEIRS TIMES, Thursday, July 15, 2010 ENJOYTHEWATER Get the most out of NH’s Lakes! GRASSO from 34 Our shore adventure

here consisted of a trip out for whale watching and this was fantastic. During this cruise we saw well over two dozen Humpback Whales as well as a colony of sea lions. All in all, this excursion was well worth the time. I didn’t take any still photos of the whales but my wife had the video camera along and got some GREAT shots. Of course we saw a lot of bald eagles. They are ev-

erywhere up there. Kind of like crows down in this neck of the woods. Still, no matter what, they are a magnificent bird. The afternoon was spent

walking around in the downtown area…MORE jewelry stores and the Red Dog Saloon, should you want a burger and a beer. The “Red Dog Sa- loon Mother lode Berger”, burger, lettuce, toma- to, pickles & cheese (on a Kaiser bun) was only $9.95 (the least expensive fare on the menu). A draft

beer was $6.00. Should you be into something with a little more “kick”, you could get a shot of Jagermeister for $6.00 or the Red Dog’s famous “Duck Fart” for $6.50. I bought a pin for my vest and called it a day there. Daily activity aboard the

ship was relaxed to say the least. Outside of the non- stop, 24 hour availability of FOOD, there was plenty of entertainment as well. Including a casino. The haus frau had a glorious time, every night, playing the penny slots. Imagine how long it takes to eat up

$10.00 playing the penny machines. Well, there was one machine, something about a lucky leprechaun, that cleaned her clock in about 5 minutes time…… NOT for me! I spent the time reading and finished 5 books on the trip. More on this trip in my

next article. In the mean- time, we’re back and Dr Hook Sport Fishing char- ters are up an running. We are doing 2 charters a day now, 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM (preferred) and 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. We can be reached via land line at (603) 366-4115 or via e-mail at drhook1@my- fairpoint.net
