The Sandwich Historical Society will proudly exhibit Joan
Cook’s beautiful collection “Another Photographic Journey of Sandwich,” Friday through Sunday, July 23rd-25th, at the craft building at the Sandwich Fairgeounds. With over 3000 photographs, he exhibit will include some
brand new, exciting categories: Postcards of Sandwich, Sandwich Fair Posters, 100 Year Old Barns, The Wild Side of Sandwich, Sandwich Then and Now and much, much more. “Songs of Old New Hampshire” On Monday, July 19th, at 7:30pm, the Campton His-
torical Society will present a special program, “Songs of Old Hampshire.” Drawing heavily on the repertoire of traditional singer
Lena Bourne Fish (1873-1945) of Jaffrey and Temple, New Hampshire, Jeff Warner offers the songs and stories that, in the words of Carl Sandburg, tell us “where we came from and what brought us along.” These ballads, love songs and comic pieces reveal the experiences and emotions of daily life in the days before movies, sound recordings, and for some, books. David Nielsen Speaks in Alton
On Friday, July 20, the Alton Historical Society will host David Nielsen, the Official Caretaker of the Old Man of the Mountain. Mr. Nielsen’s presentation will include visuals and he will
be signing copies of his new book, “101 Glimpses of the Old Man of the Mountain.” The program will be held at the Gilman Museum, at
7pm. The Gilman Museum is located on the corner of Main St and Rt 140.
The MOXIE Story
On Thursday, July 22nd, the Centre Harbor Historical Society welcomes Merrill Lewis to speak about the origin and history of the soft drink “MOXIE.” In 1884, Dr. Augus- tin Thompson, a physician, introduced a unique flavor in the soft drink world... “the MOXIE taste.” Lewis will bring us the latest and future plans for the most colorful bever- age in the New England area.
The meeting will be held in
Center Harbor, NH at the Schoolhouse Museum on Rt 25B at 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served after the program. The program is free and open to the public.
