Brazoria County Formalizes Code Requirement
Brazoria County has adopted House Bill (HB) 2833 and will begin requiring compliance immediately. Brazoria joins Harris, Fort Bend and Galveston counties in requiring construction meet minimum code and inspection requirements.
For those in Brazoria County, this will not be a significant change from what builders were already doing under the Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC). When beginning construction, Brazoria builders must notify the county of which code they intend to use—the 2006 International Residential Code (IRC) or the code of the county seat. Also, within 10 days after completing the foundation, rough and final inspections, you must notify the county that construction is complete.
