Ten year anniversary. With over 150 donors, more than any other year, the Project raised $129,340 for the Alzheimer's Association and Texas Children's. In addition to a fellowship, funds provided from the 1990 Project were used to construct a support area, or "mission control," for the children's mobile care unit.
2009 was a banner year for the Benefit Homes Project. For the first time in history, three homes were built for charity. The Project also reached another milestone—more than $5 million donated to Houston-area charities.
In 2009, BHP was presented with the Outstanding Community Service Organization Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The Project was nominated by Texas Children's Hospital, a longtime recipient.
Another landmark achievement was the sale of Chesmar's Benefit Home—before groundbreaking! Land Tejas donated the homesite for a record 11th year in a row.
The other two '09 Benefit Homes were constructed by the teams of Highland Homes/Newland Communities and Trendmaker Homes/The Woodlands Development Co.

GHBA Benefit Homes Project adds a third char i t y—HomeAid Houston, which builds transitional housing for Houston's homeless p o p u l a t i o n . BHP surpasses the $3 million donation mark in 2007.
Village Builders, a part of the Lennar Family of Builders is building its 4,307 sq. ft. DaVinci Plan in Oakhurst at Kingwood. Fr iendswood Development donated the homesite. Westin Homes will construct the second 2010 home, on a site donated by Land Tejas Companies.
