GHBA Went to Washington!
On April 20, GHBA joined more than 1,000 NAHB members from around the country to meet with our congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. Our local association brought more than 20 members to Washington to discuss with members of Congress where the builders stand on many critical issues.
GHBA members met with 11 congressional offices, including Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn and Representatives Ted Poe, Kevin Brady, Michael McCaul, Pete Olson, John Culberson, Gene Green, Al Green, Ron Paul and Sheila Jackson Lee.

While in Washington, our group was able to focus on the topics of: financial reforms, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, mortgage credit standards, the acquisition development & construction (AD&C) credit crunch, appraisals, climate changes, healthcare and immigration. We expect action on these issues over the next two years.
In addition to the issues outlined above, there will be groups trying to attack the contractor-subcontractor relationship. We must address the future of the National Flood Insurance program, wetlands, water and environmental issues, as well as the Reauthorization of Transportation funding, which will have
