REMODELORS COUNCIL NEWS
2010 RMC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Marketing with RMC
Low and no-cost marketing opportunities
L
ast year the Remodelors Council surveyed its membership, soliciting
what information and speakers you wanted to hear about. Among respondents, the most desired subject was marketing. So, per your request, the RMC has kicked off an integrated, three-part marketing series designed to expose techniques for remodelers to cost-effectively brand their companies and grow sales with proven, audience- focused marketing strategies.
The April speaker was Warren Clark, regional marketing manager for BMC Select Building Materials. I would personally like to thank Warren for a great job on Part I of our series. His insight and ability to think deep in the box was well received, and everyone left with a deluge of information.
To continue our marketing series, Leslie Farnsworth, FrogDog Communications president, will join us May 11 to educate us on “Branding and Communications.” And the very popular Troy Elmore with Sandler Sales Training will cap off the Marketing Series on June 8.
Since we are on the subject of marketing, did you know that with your membership to the GHBA and the RMC, you have access to numerous opportunities to market yourself and your company—many at no cost other than your membership dues? You can enhance this exposure even more by getting involved with one of the many GHBA and RMC committees and functions. Upgrade your image by adding affiliation logos to your business

cards, stationery and estimate forms. You are also entitled to a free listing in the Houston Remodeling Guide, the annual GHBA directory, and a free link to your Web site from
ghba.org. These directories and guides are distributed throughout the Greater Houston area for greater exposure. You can also follow the RMC on Facebook, and we have several advertising opportunities on the RMC Web pages.
Earn your professional designations to enhance your image and to separate yourself from the competition. I found that the relationships I developed during these informative educational classes have, without a doubt, given me the tools to be more profitable.
Another great, no-cost way to market your business is to join the many networking events offered by the association. What better venue than to have some fun while presenting your business to like-minded professionals.
Speaking of networking, please join the Remodelors Council for some fun in the sun on June 5 for the annual Sandcastle Competition on Galveston’s East Beach. Just $25 gets you a t-shirt and an all- access pass to the event. There are several sandcastle committees that need your help. Put your creative talents to work, play in the dirt and network with your fellow remodelers… all while working on that perfect tan. There will also be a pre-party on the island on Friday night. So get a hotel, and spend the weekend with RMC! Find parking and hotel info at
ghba.org.
