OCTAVIO HERRERA

Octavio Herrera, an IT security manager at Aflac, leads a team tasked with maintaining the security and integrity of Aflac’s data and IT Infrastructure. Herrera is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry requirements (HIPAA, SOX, PCI, etc) while leveraging security technology to

provide solutions for our corporate users and associate field force. Two current projects that he is working on include the implementation of the company’s B2B file transfer strategy and leveraging their SSL VPN infrastructure to give help-desk personnel the ability to remotely support field force agents.

Herrera earned his master’s degree in information assurance from Norwich University. In 1993, he managed a team tasked with the distribution, installation and support of computer resources provided by the U.S. Olympic committee for the events and media coverage of the 1993 Olympic festival held in the city of San Antonio.

JOHN E. ESQUIVEL

John E. Esquivel is a circuit design engineer at Texas Instruments. His responsibili- ties include designing, devel- oping and modifying integrat- ed circuitry. Esquivel is currently working on mixed signal integrated circuit designs. He serves as the lead designer on a team that consists of both analog and digital designers and he coordinates the efforts between them.

Esquivel volunteers at Howe High School as a BEST Robotics coach. He has also been a leader for a community outreach program that assisted the elderly.

DELICIO DE SANTANA

Delicio De Santana is a senior project engineer at Cono- coPhillips. He has 10 years of industry experience with roles such as facilities design, drilling engineering, R&D, economic assessment and project management. During his tenure with the company, among his many roles, De Santana has

created oil field development schemes including cost esti- mates and schedules, by networking and interfacing with subsurface, drilling, operations, procurement and co-ventures. He also delivered development concept options/framing, cost and schedule ranges, project risking, and support the transi- tion of projects into the AFD phase.

De Santana earned an master of science degree in manage- ment (financial management) from the University of Bath.

THAIMAR ROCIO RAMIREZ

Thaimar Rocío Ramírez is a petrophysicist in the Mid-Conti- nent Business Unit with Cono- coPhillips in Midland, Texas. She is responsible for formation evaluation of the challenging unconventional reservoirs in the Rocky Mountains. Ramírez works in a multidisciplinary environment to assess field development

opportunities in the Wind River Basin. Her main activities include interpretation and integration of well logs, core, and production data to provide petrophysical parameters for reserve calculations. She leverages technology that aids in the characterization of tight gas sandstones and accommodates special formation evaluation requests from other asset teams.

Ramírez earned her master of science degree with a focus on petroleum engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. She mentors geoscientists and engineers to facilitate the ongoing professional learning process and accelerate their technical skills.
