Painting fit for a Princess
In January, Her Royal Highness The
Princess Royal delighted veterans
of Erskine when she visited three
of the charity’s Renfrewshire based
homes. Her visit to The Erskine
Home in Bishopton was made
extra special by the presentation
of a beautiful painting, which
was painted by veteran William
Wyllie, (RN) aged 89. The Princess
thanked William for his painting, a
crystal vase filled with blossoming
red roses, and asked him how long
he had been painting. For William,
who will be 90 in May, to have
painted such a lovely picture was
a feat in itself as he has extremely
poor sight. William said: “It was a
pleasure to paint for the Princess”.
The Princess, who is no stranger to
Erskine, then took the short walk
to the Erskine Park Home where

again she spent time with veterans Monday 1st March and Wednesday 24th March. Held in Paisley Town Hall,
and their families. Her trip finished from 1pm - 3.30pm, Tickets £1.50. Enjoy an afternoon of dancing, music
with visit to the Erskine Mains Home and chatting with friends. John Findlay will keep you entertained all
in Erskine where she was greeted by afternoon playing a series of timeless tunes on the keyboard. Information

to veterans, staff and families.
Veterans Joe Parker, RAF, aged 89 said: “It was
very pleasant to see the Princess, she spoke
to me and she was very down to earth, she
certainly has the human touch”
