Newly opened - Fernie & Florence
Claire Robb and Shena Cleat are so excited about the opening of their new shop in the heart of
Kilmacolm. Formerly Karen McMaster Flowers – they are continuing the good work of Karen and
her team. In fact the familiar faces of Sally and Judi can still be seen in the fl ower workshop
producing their wonderful fl ower
creations.
‘We wanted to make the shop
innovative and a little different’
say the girls. ‘Fernie & Florence is
primarily a fl orist with the beautiful
fl owers and plants still being imported
from Holland. However the elegantly
refurbished shop gives us more room
to showcase the amazing gifts and
homeware we have sourced from
specialist wholesalers in Europe.’
For those who love something special,
a trip to Fernie & Florence is defi nitely
worthwhile.

Surprise visit from 10 year old Abby
Former RAF veterans at The Erskine Home in Bishopton received a
surprise visit from 10 year old Abby Weir this week. Abby didn’t come
empty handed, but with a cheque for
the amazing amount of £252, which she
handed over to Irene Adam, WAAF, Peter
Wilson, RAF and Joe Parker RAF.
Following the tragic death of her daddy
David, in a motorbike accident, in May
last year Abby decided that she would
like to fundraise for his favourite charity,
Erskine. With her school, Balmuildy
Primary announcing the date of their
Christmas Fair as November 28th, Abby
decided to go on a Marathon bake! And
bake she did. Fairy cakes, shortbread, fruit loaf, caramel shortcake,
marshmallow cakes, truffl es....the list was endless; all of which she
donated to the baking stall for the Fair. At the end of the Fair the
fantastic total of £220 had been made and Abby’s generous teachers
donated the extra £32 to make a grand total of £252.
Proud Mum Evelyn, who runs the Ardgowan Boarding House in Paisley, said
“I am extremely proud of Abby and what she has done. She was a real
daddy’s girl and she has been through a lot.”
Veterans Irene, Joe and Peter said “Abby is a lovely wee girl, it was really
nice to meet her!”
Abby has promised to come back to visit soon but this time bringing lots
of her famous home baking!
