with the UK: “There are many fine dining restaurants and the standards are high, but you can eat inexpensively too. I took the agents for fish chowder, a local favourite, made with a dash of Goslings Rum and a drop of spicy sherry pepper.” The agents also checked out a range
of accommodation, from the high-end cottage colonies of Cambridge Beaches and Mandarin Oriental Elbow Beach to the family-run Pompano Beach Club. They inspected a new block of suites at The Reefs; the family facilities at the Fairmont Southampton; and the colonial-style Rosedon, within walking distance of Hamilton. Grotto Bay, the only all-inclusive, is named after the local caves. They also visited Rosewood Tuckers Point, Bermuda’s newest hotel, with a golf course and private beach club. one end of the island to the other, so it’s difficult to get lost. Marshall says: “I was keen to show how easy and safe it is to explore the island, only 21 miles long and two miles at its widest, so I encouraged the agents to explore independently using the Transport Pass, which gives you unlimited use of buses and ferries. There are no hire cars, but you can rent scooters and take them on the ferries. direct flight with British Airways. The group flew both ways in Club Class. Flights are daily in the summer – leaving Gatwick in the afternoon and arriving in time for cocktails. The winter schedule is five flights per week, with no service on Monday or Saturday, and this operates until March 26, 2012. Marshall adds: “We were lucky to
receive lounge access and be upgraded to Club Class, where the service was impeccable and the flatbed comfy.”
Sell Bermuda to families “I’ve sold Bermuda a few times, but I’m more confident now and have several clients interested for 2012. I would highly recommend Bermuda to couples and families. The seven-hour direct flight with British Airways would suit my clients as we are so close to Gatwick. Bermuda has a magical feel and makes a beautiful wedding destination. The beaches are really safe for families.” Pauline Newman, Anders Travel, Brighton
Rosedon is a lovely hidden gem “I loved Cambridge Beaches. It had a real homely feel in the main house. The decor is classic with a splash of contemporary colour. All the rooms were spacious, with a lovely terrace or balcony. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and nothing was too much trouble. A highlight for me at Cambridge was taking the Boston Whalers (pictured, above) out. We cruised around the bays and coves, stopping off for snorkelling. Rosedon is a lovely
Tuckers Point is the most sophisticated hotel “Rosewood Tuckers Point is the newest hotel in Bermuda, with a private beach, 18-hole golf course, swimming pools, spa, gym and dive centre. Probably the best- looking hotel, it is set in beautiful grounds. All the rooms have a big, bright bathroom with oval bath. Grotto Bay is the only all-inclusive hotel on Bermuda and family orientated, with golf, watersports, cycling, diving, sailing and tennis on offer.

Try a Dark ‘N’ Stormy cocktail Hamilton Princess is an elegant hotel with great history by Hamilton Harbour. Its Friday night Happy Hour is a must to try the Dark ‘N’ Stormy and Rum Swizzle cocktails. Newstead Belmont Hills is the perfect base for island exploration. Its Beau Rivage restaurant offers amazing food and views. It is also Catherine Zeta-Jones’s favourite restaurant on the island. We were lucky enough to be able to travel British Airways Club World both ways. It is the perfect way to start and end your holiday. A big plus is that your luggage comes off the plane first so there’s no hanging around at the airport!”
