Happy hours in a buzzing Bermuda
The Bermuda Department of Tourism and British Airways hosted 10 agents in Bermuda this autumn. None had visited before, but all were charmed by its selling potential

Men in Bermuda shorts – what more can you ask for? “On arriving in Bermuda I was welcomed by a very good-looking man in passport control who asked: ‘Where have you been all my life?’ Well, being a single woman, that was it for me and I was staying. The island has a very relaxed feel even though it is upmarket. If you love old-world charm, pastel shades and great beaches, this is the place for you. And around every corner are men in Bermuda shorts – what more can you ask for?” Iona Etchells, Eton Travel, Wokingham

Warm and friendly people “Mark Twain said: ‘You can go to heaven if you want. I'd rather stay in Bermuda.’ Possibly one of the world’s prettiest islands, with a strong colonial heritage, the mild winters mean that the golf courses appeal at any time. In addition to maritime history, Bermuda offers museums, art galleries, Unesco World Heritage sight St George’s, the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, wreck diving, climbing Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, big- game fishing and snorkelling.
To top it all off, Bermudians are warm and friendly people.” Gabi Birbeck,
