Second Suspect Arrested In Missouri for Theft of Baby Calf in Oklahoma

Cummings led the investigation and TSCRA Special Ranger Bart Perrier assisted. According to Cummings, the investigation began on Oct. 21, 2015, when a baby


calf was consigned at the Vinita, Okla., livestock auction. The employees at the livestock auction said they became suspicious when a malnourished newborn calf was unloaded from inside the cab of a pickup driven by Ellis and the fi rst suspect, Jenny Lynn Davis, 36, of Claremore, Okla. The livestock auction staff contacted Cummings and an investigation was initi-


ated. According to Cummings, the investigation revealed that the calf was stolen from a ranch in Rogers County, where the suspects were temporarily living. The victim stated that he knew the calf was recently born but was unaware it had been stolen from his property. The case was presented to the Rogers County District Attorney’s Offi ce and El-

lis and Davis were each charged with 1 count of larceny of a domestic animal on Dec. 2, 2015. Davis quickly surrendered to authorities and was released on bond. Ellis remained at large until information surfaced that he was in the Nevada area. Cummings received word on Jan. 8 that Ellis had been located and arrested


by the Nevada Police Department on Dec. 26, 2015. Ellis was jailed in the Vernon County (Mo.) jail pending extradition back to Oklahoma. TSCRA would like to thank the Rogers County Sheriff’s Offi ce Investigators Sgt.

LIBERTY COUNTY MAN WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH THEFT OF LIVESTOCK ON JAN. 8, after purchasing 8 cattle at the Hills Prairie Livestock Auction, Bastrop, on a


closed account. This case was handled jointly by TSCRA Special Rangers Jimmy Belt, Hal Du-


mas, Brent Mast and Bastrop County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Garvel. According to Belt, the suspect, Daniel O’Quinn, 51, Dayton, purchased 8 heavy-


bred heifers on Dec. 2 from the Hills Prairie Livestock Auction for $17,600 on a closed bank account. After taking possession of the cattle, O’Quinn delivered them to Mid-Tex Livestock Auction in Anderson, where they sold on Dec. 3. It was later revealed that O’Quinn also bought cattle on the same closed account

from the Brazos Valley Livestock Auction, Bryan, in Dumas’ region, and the suspect sold them at the Columbus Livestock Auction, Columbus. Through investigative efforts, O’Quinn was located and arrested by the Walker County Sheriff’s Department and Mast on Jan. 8. The suspect was taken to the
